For a long time, the English Premier League has been the centre of attraction when it comes to football. It’s one of the toughest and most competitive leagues in the world and attracts some of the best football stars. In this article, find three of the most iconic Premier League moments.
Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ Record
Arsenal’s 2003/2004 squad was iconic, and the most complete squad the London club has ever assembled. The Gunners went 38 games unbeaten, winning 26, and drawing 12. Ultimately, they were crowned champions, winning the title by 11 points. Liverpool has tried to break this record recently, but Watford proved them wrong in game 28 when they went down by three goals to nil, ending a 44-game unbeaten streak.
The 2011/2012 Premier League season was an epic one. After 37 games, Manchester City and Manchester United were level on points, with 86 apiece. In the final match, United had done their job edging out Sunderland by a solitary goal. In the closing minutes, Manchester City was down by two goals to one before Dzeko levelled the game in stoppage time. The celebrations had begun at Old Trafford, but a 94th-minute strike by Sergio Aguero denied United the title.
The Foxes Title Charge
The 2015/2016 season will be remembered as Leicester, against all the odds clinched the title with Claudio Ranieri as manager. The likes of Mahrez, Vardy, Kanté, and Schmeichel inspired the title charge, and with a brilliant display of counterattacking football, The Foxes were crowned champions.
The above are the most iconic Premier League moments in the history of the competition. Other remarkable moments include Wayne Rooney’s spectacular strike that ended Arsenal’s 30 games unbeaten run when he was just 16 and on an £80 a week salary at Everton. Beckhams halfway strike was also phenomenal.
